I left Iowa City 43 years ago, just before Prairie Lights. I return from time to time, always spending time in that bookstore, but I still miss living there.
Good luck with the move, Garth, best wishes for the exciting next few months, and thanks for keeping us posted. Hoping to catch an East Coast tour stop.
You have inspired my wish to return to Manhattan, despite all the recent reports. Having spent time there in the 80's and 90's, I can't imagine it will be any more chaotic, but it definitely sounds more expensive. I include a link to a Manhattan tweet of mine just below. My passion for exploring NYC is usually too much for my limited human energy!
I wish you a safe passage. May your heart be enriched by the wonders that linger beyond the threshold. . .

I’m really looking forward to going back.
Enjoy the journey home, embrace the green things, and drink in the gifts of a midwestern summer. x
Thank you so much, Glenda!
Just pre-ordered Small Rain! So excited to read it. Can't wait to have my mind blown. Hope your days are going well, Garth!
Thank you so much, Hans!
I learned today that ginger cats ("tangerine colour") like Pedro were considered the best in Ancient China.
Look forward to attening your reading in London in the fall! Best of luck with your move back home and with the book launch.
Good luck in your next chapter of your wildish and precious-ish life. Enjoyed reading you here, but mostly your stories in the New Yorker.
Thank you!
I appreciate this letter so much. Please know how much it means to us out here! Safe happy move and looking forward to talking to you next week.
Thank you, Martha!
Have a safe trip and a happy reunion with your husband!
The pleasure is all mine. : )

Thank you for taking the time to post this, despite your busy schedule.
